内容摘要:Beyond the iconic double-helix, DNA and RNA are prone to structural polymorphism. I have dedicated my whole career to these “weird” nucleic acid structures. For example, we are developping tools to study the folding and polymorphism of unusual nucleic acid structures and to understand how they can compete with regular duplex-formation. G-quadruplexes (G4s), which are often found in aptamer sequences, are involved in key biological processes, including transcription, and can contribute to tumorogenesis. We designed and applied an algorithm for the prediction of G4 propensity to a variety of genomes, including cancer genomes, and then used a variety of biochemical and in cell techniques to confirm these predictions in a variety of organisms.
